NUA Surgical® continues to build strong momentum in 2026, marked by a significant regulatory achievement, team expansion, and multiple industry award nominations, further reinforcing its position as an emerging leader in maternal health innovation.
The company has successfully achieved ISO 13485:2016 certification for the design and development of sterile devices for caesarean deliveries. This internationally recognised standard for quality management systems in the medical device sector represents a critical milestone, demonstrating NUA Surgical’s commitment to rigorous design control, risk management, and regulatory compliance. The certification provides a robust foundation as the company progresses into its next phase of product development and global market readiness.
CEO Barry McCann described the achievement as a collective effort across the organisation, acknowledging the contributions of the entire team and key partners. Particular recognition was given to Consultant VP of Quality Anna Nestor for leading the development of the company’s quality management system, alongside external support from CompanionQMS and Aztec Medical.
Complementing this milestone, NUA Surgical has also strengthened its team with the addition of new hires, reflecting continued organisational growth and capacity building as the company scales its operations.
This progress has been further recognised at an industry level, with NUA Surgical shortlisted for multiple categories at the Life Science Industry Awards 2026, including Life Sciences Company of the Year and Innovation of the Year. In addition, COO Marie-Therese Maher has been individually recognised with a nomination for the Women in Life Sciences Award.
Together, these developments highlight a company executing across all fronts, quality, people, and innovation as it advances its mission to improve outcomes for mothers and clinicians worldwide.
