InVera Medical, an ATU iHub client company based in Galway, has reached a significant milestone with the publication of its first peer-reviewed clinical study in the Journal of Vascular Surgery: Venous and Lymphatic Disorders, a leading international journal in venous disease research.
The study evaluated the InVera Infusion Device, a novel mechanical infusion catheter developed to treat chronic venous disease caused by superficial venous reflux. The device uses an innovative nitinol helical coil to prepare the vessel wall before delivering sclerosant therapy, offering a non-thermal alternative to conventional vein ablation procedures.
Results from the 12-month pilot study demonstrated:
- 100% technical procedural success
- 90% anatomical success at 12-month follow-up
- No device-related complications or serious adverse events
- Significant improvements in clinical outcomes and patient quality of life scores
The publication marks an important step in the clinical development of the technology and strengthens the growing reputation of Galway as a hub for medtech innovation. The study was authored by an international team including Nigel Phelan, Founder and CEO of InVera Medical, alongside collaborators from Ireland, Hungary and the United States.
ATU iHub congratulates the team at InVera Medical on this achievement and looks forward to supporting the company’s continued growth as it advances the clinical evidence base for its innovative technology.
